Juiced Bikes has upgraded its popular Crosscurrent e-bike to the Crosscurrent X step-over version, with an upgraded battery, the G2 52V x 19.2 Ah monster providing 995 Wh of capacity. When paired with the Bafang 750 Watt (1300 peak) rear hub motor with 80 Nm torque, it yields an estimated maximum range of 80+ miles with the usual caveats regarding conditions.

Because of the long potential range, this bike should be considered an ideal commuter bike and shares many specs with the RipCurrent, a fat-tire e-bike with a more powerful motor that is suited to tackle multiple surfaces and a shorter range of 70 miles.

The Crosscurrent X is a Class 3 e-bike with a maximum pedal assist speed of 28 mph. It also has a throttle for passive assistance up to a maximum of 20 mph. Most e-bikes have either cadence sensor pedal assist (based on rider pedal speed) or torque sensor pedal assist (based on rider pedal effort). The Crosscurrent X has both torque and cadence sensors, giving maximum flexibility and a natural feel for the rider.

The bike has a 9-speed transmission and rear rack and fenders. Also included are an LED front headlight and rear taillight. As you might expect, the brakes are hydraulic disc brakes made by Tektro. Unlike the Ripcurrent, the puncture-resistant tires are not fat, being only 1.75” wide.

The frame is custom aluminum and comes in red, black, and gray, and the bike weighs about 65 lbs (54 without battery). The handlebars are outfitted with Velo ergonomic grips. Weight capacity is a bit low at 275 lbs. It comes with a 2Amp charger (USB charger is optional) and an advanced LCD display controller.

Interestingly, the Crosscurrent X comes in a less expensive step-through version, but the battery has a lower capacity of 52V x 15Ah, 777Wh. If the longest range isn’t that vital to you, this might be a good choice if price is more important.

Juiced Bikes makes excellent quality e-bikes. The upgraded Crosscurrent X has been called “A true car replacement” by Forbes. In other words, if you are looking for a versatile bike as a refreshing alternative to car commuting, the Crosscurrent X just might be the perfect fit.
